Scooby Doo Shot

scooby dooHere is my idea for the so called 'Scooby doo shot'. This shot will feature three characters; the killer, the policeman, and the damsel in distress. I shall do this my asking the actors to chase each other through the corridor from one room into another up and down the corridor. They will stay in each room for 5 seconds and then carry on. The camera will also be stationary which will mean that I will be able to join part of the shot where they enter one door and a shot where they come out of another, thus giving the Scooby doo shot. I may also do the shot again but with the characters in a different order and perhaps individually. I shall also be getting the killer and policemen to wave their knife/baton to the beat of the song, whereas the damsel could perhaps look around scared to the beat.

I'm still not sure whether to do the whole thing in black and white or not. For this shot's sake I will say that I won't for now. Therefore, the killer would be wearing a murderer costume (I'm not sure which yet), the policemen will be wearing a traditional navy blue bobby outfit, and the woman will be wearing a red and black gothic dress. This would connote the death and danger that she is in. The corridor itself will most likely be quite dark, but it depends on what levels of darkness I can go to before the shot looks awful. The corridor will probably be a school corridor unless I find somewhere better.

But where would this shot go in relation to the song? It is quite long so I think it will be better in an instrumental bit or something. Having listened to the song, I have identified a couple of spaces in which the shot could go:
  • 1:05 - 1:25, there is repetition of the lyric 'run away' followed by instruments and weird noises which leaves space for the shot. This is probably the best place for it.
  • 3:30+, the song ends with a long piece of instrumental music which will need to be filled up with narrative shots.
